It is amazing how such a tiny person can have such a huge impact on your life. I can't even describe how much I love my little Kaylie. Today she is three weeks and five days old. It has been the most tiring, but best time of my life. Being a mom is such a blessing, and I love every minute of it! Here is a little recap of how our beautiful baby Kaylie came into our lives.
Around 4:00 A.M. on October 24th (our due date), I started having painful contractions. For the next few hours the contractions began to get closer together and become increasingly painful. Blake and I began keeping track to determine if I was going into real labor. They were a bit irregular so we decided to call our doctor and get his opinion. He advised us to head to the hospital to get it checked out.
We arrived at the hospital at 9:00 A.M. I asked Blake to take a baby bump picture to mark my 40 weeks of pregnancy, just in case I was having the baby. We were pleasantly surprised to learn I was already dilated to 5 cm, and was in active labor.
I don't know how women have natural births. The contractions were growing strong and difficult to endure. My nurses quickly took my information, and I had my epidural soon after. Thank heavens for modern medicine!
I was lucky to have the support of my sweet husband and Mom while waiting for baby to arrive. Around 3:00 P.M., I was fully dilated and ready to start pushing. At 4:54 P.M. my sweet baby was born!!! Kaylie Danielle Hunziker, named after Blake's late sister, was 7 lbs. 10 oz. She was 19 inches long, and had lots of dark wavy hair!
Kaylie was cleaned up and checked out right in our room. I was jealous that Blake got to watch while I finished up with the doctor. She was pink, squirmy, and absolutely adorable!
Holding your brand new baby is absolutely surreal. It is crazy to know that we can create life! Our bodies are so amazing. I loved holding my tiny new born baby. She immediately seemed to recognize Blake's and my voice, and stopped crying. She is such a good baby.
Kaylie had lots of visitors at the hospital. She is such a popular little girl! Thanks everyone who came to support our little family.
Kaylie and I were both healthy and doing great. We left the hospital Wednesday evening.
This is what happens when Blake is watching Kaylie. Ha jk, but he does get some pretty funny pictures of her. Blake is such an amazing Dad! He is so good with Kaylie and loves holding and playing with her. He is the best at calming her when she is upset. It is pretty obvious that Kaylie loves her Daddy :D.

She is BEAUTIFUL Kim. Congratulations. I can't believe how much hair she has, and it is so dark!!
